Japan and Vietnam established the diplomatic relation in 1973 and have deepened economic relations to date. The total amount of trade between two countries tripled and accumulated FDI from Japan to Vietnam increased by six times during the recent decade. For Japan, the importance of economic relation with Vietnam cannot be overemphasized. Given that Vietnam’s economy is expected to steadily grow for the following years, the potential for further economic collaboration, including FDI from Vietnam into Japan, remains high.
