Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chairs the Soc Trang Investment Promotion Conference 2022

Yesterday, April 28, 2022, Soc Trang Provincial People’s Committee held the Investment Promotion Conference in 2022 with the theme: “Accompanying – Cooperation – Development”. The conference was attended by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of ministries, central agencies, and leaders of a number of provinces and cities; representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations in Vietnam; entrepreneurs, business representatives, business associations, economic experts at home and abroad.

Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Secretary of the Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee Lam Van Man said that through this Conference, Soc Trang province wishes to introduce the province’s distinct potentials, outstanding opportunities, and competitive advantages. at the same time information on development orientation and investment attraction of the province in the coming period. Soc Trang province will focus on calling for investment in areas such as high-tech agriculture, industry and renewable energy, trade, services, tourism, logistics and marine economy.

Reporting at the Conference on investment attraction results for the period 2018 -2022, Mr. Tran Van Lau – Chairman of Soc Trang province said that in 2018, the province successfully organized the Investment Promotion and Launching Conference. starting a business.
Up to now, 7 projects have been put into operation with a total investment capital of 2,869.7 billion VND; 4 projects are being implemented with a total capital of 3,230 billion VND; 2 projects have carried out auction procedures; 2 projects are carrying out planning procedures and other projects investors are continuing to study and propose to the province. At this Investment Promotion Conference, the province awarded the Investment Certificate, Investment Policy Decision, and Commitment Letter to invest in 25 projects with a total investment capital of   40,315 billion.
Since the conference, the province continues to welcome nearly 500 more businesses and investors to explore investment cooperation opportunities, through which the province has attracted 101 projects with a total committed investment capital of more than 64,569 billions dong.
According to the Chairman of Soc Trang Provincial People’s Committee, in order to continue promoting the achieved results, the province has determined the orientation to attract investment in the period 2022-2025 in 5 pillars: seaport logistics services, industrial infrastructure – urban, high-tech agriculture, tourism and renewable energy. In particular, the province is promoting the focus for investment calling for the Tran De seaport project, which is planned as a gateway for import and export of goods in the Mekong Delta.
Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the investment promotion results that Soc Trang has achieved in the past 4 years.
In particular, the Prime Minister requested the province to develop and build an investment environment that is open, transparent, equal, safe, effective and sustainable. To do this, it is necessary to stick to the guidelines and lines of the Party. Along with that is the implementation of 3 breakthroughs in infrastructure, human resources and institutional reform.
The Prime Minister also requested ministries and branches to base themselves on their functions and powers to proactively deal with difficulties and problems in the implementation process.

At the conference, Soc Trang province awarded investment policy decisions, investment registration certificates for 4 projects with a total registered investment of 12,078 billion VND and signed a memorandum of investment research and survey with enterprises. with a total registered investment of over 200,000 billion VND. At the same time, Soc Trang province has received an additional VND 50 billion into the social security fund to build 1,000 houses for poor households and households with housing difficulties.
