Australian Investment Forum 2023: Vietnam is a very important economic partner of Australia

September 8th, 2023, Austrade coordinated with Foreign Investment Agency, Ministry of Planning and Investment to organize Australian Investment Forum 2023 in Ho Chi Minh City.

The event is within the framework of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Australia and attracts a large number of Vietnamese businesses to learn information about the environment and investment policies as well as opportunities to invest in Australia.
Australian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City – Ms. Sarah Hooper affirmed that Australia sees great potential to expand trade and investment relationships with Vietnam.
Vietnam is a very important economic partner of Australia and both sides aim to double two-way investment and become one of each other’s top ten trading partners.

Mr. Vu Van Chung – Deputy General Director of Foreign Investment Agency, Ministry of Planning and Investment, said that cumulatively to date, Vietnam has invested abroad in 1,665 projects in 80 countries and territories, with Total registered capital is 22.1 billion USD.
Of which, Vietnam has invested in Australia in 93 projects with a total registered capital of 586.4 million USD, ranking 11th out of 80 countries and territories with investment capital from Vietnam.
On the contrary, Australia currently has 610 valid investment projects in Vietnam with a total registered capital of more than 2.02 billion USD, ranking 20th/143 countries and territories investing in Vietnam; Focusing on the fields of: Processing and manufacturing industry; Accommodation and food services; Agriculture, forestry and fisheries.

At the event, representatives of the governments of the two countries and Australian states and Vietnamese investors exchanged information on foreign direct investment policies, opportunities in the global value chain and challenges of the market. market, guiding business practices to help make the investor experience more favorable.
